This position is located in the General Law Section of the Office of the County Attorney. The General Law Section defends erroneous tax assessment, bankruptcy, and utility rate regulation cases, advises County agencies on complex financial matters/bond issues, including forming special tax and transportation districts; interacts with the Virginia General Assembly on proposed legislation. Represents Fairfax County agencies on legal matters; represents the Board of Supervisors, the County Executive, department heads, division directors, and other employees; and does related work as required. Under general direction, personally handles litigation and specialized subject matter functions, does related work as required. Education, training, experience:
Membership in the Virginia State Bar and any combination of education and experience equivalent to four years of progressively responsible experience in the practice of civil law in the employ of a municipal or county government. Litigation experience. All positions allocated to the County Attorney series are under the Fairfax County Merit System of personnel administration and are limited to full-time employment and preclude the private practice of law.
